Review and Giveaway: Babadoo Designs – Ends 05/09 *CLOSED*

Congrats to Kim C., winner of the Babadoo Designs giveaway!

I am such a fan of paper products and fun, inventive stationary and note cards. I recently discovered Babadoo Designs and I absolutely adore the entire line of products offered! The owner of Babadoo Designs, Hillary Walters-Reynolds creates the most adorable and original paper products that can be customized to fit your needs.

Babadoo Designs started creating such fun and original products in August 2008. The business is named after the owner’s children and you can read more about the business and what exactly makes Babadoo Designs different from other stationary companies here.

I was lucky enough to receive note cards and matching envelopes. I was able to chose an anchor design from the Anchors Away line. When I found out that I could chose a design, I honestly had a hard time narrowing down my choices! I just love all of Babadoo’s Designs and I love that each design is 100% original and exclusive! Each image is an original watercolor print painted by Hillary and her father.

The note cards I received are printed on excellent quality heavy card stock that is 100% recyclable. The image and text at the top of my note cards is crisply and cleanly printed. The image is so chic and fun. There is also a tiny red border printed around the outer edges of the cards. Attention to detail is definitely Babadoo’s strong suit.

You can create your very own stationary, labels & tags, invitations and even cupcake toppers with Babadoo Designs. I am so in love with the cupcake toppers and religious cards. The design possibilities are all up to you!

Review: eBeanstalk.com Website

I love to shop for toys and books for my children online, and I’m always looking for the most unique, educational products I can find. With my daughter’s 4th birthday coming up, I started looking at one of my favorite toy sites online, eBeanstalk.com which sells educational toys for children from birth to age 12.

The best thing about eBeanstalk.com is that they have a team of child specialists, which inclue a child psychologist, child physical therapist, and over 700 moms who have worked together to sort their toys into the appropriate state of development. Their toys are matched to 3 month incremental stages. I think this is awesome, because it makes it easy to search for toys that you are giving as gifts. I am able to search by toys for 4 year olds which shows me specific toys that are appropriate for my daughter’s age group. They even break their toy groups down further into gender (see toys for 4 year old boys and toys for 4 year old girls).

If you’re looking for gift ideas but have no idea what’s popular for kids, check out their top selling toys for 4 year olds (or any other age group you’re shopping for). They can also send you birthday reminders so you can purchase a thoughtful birthday gift in plenty of time for any child’s birthday. As if that’s not enough, you can even buy a series of gifts through their “Grow and Learn Series.” Every three months, they will deliver a new toy expertly-matched to the stage of the child’s development.

Disclosure: I received a $25 eBeanstalk.com gift certificate in exchange for my honest review of their website. The views expressed here are my own.

Review and Giveaway: “Hannah and the Talking Tree” Children’s Book – Ends 05/06 *CLOSED*

Congratulations to Vickie C., winner of the “Hannah and the Talking Tree” children’s book!

Hannah and the Talking Tree is a new children’s book about Hannah, a little girl with a special gift – big ears that allow her to hear things other’s cant, like nature sounds. She can hear the grass grow, trees drinking water, and ants marching. She becomes friends with a special tree and goes on a mission to save the tree from being cut down. This book teaches children to live an ecologically friendly life and to preserve the environment.

We received a copy of Hannah and the Talking Tree to try out. Without reading it, I put it on my daughter’s bookshelf and planned to read it to her soon. The next night, as I was tucking her into bed, she asked for the “big ears” book. It took me a while to realize she was asking for Hannah and the Talking Tree! Finally I figured it out and started reading it to her, and she had already looked at the book and figured out what comes next in the story. This is very unlike my daughter! She loved this book so much, I came in her room the other night to find her sleeping with this book over her face. I wish I had taken a picture!

I was really impressed with the artwork in the book. The pages are thick and glossy and the images are very colorful. All illustrations are done by the author, Elke Weiss. You can check out more pages from the book at this link.

I also liked that this book focuses on teaching children to be eco-friendly. It’s even printed on recycled paper. And, it also teaches children that it’s ok to be different. Hannah was picked on because of her large ears, but her ability to hear nature is a special gift and others come to accept her differences at the end of the story. I think this book is appropriate for children of all ages, regardless of gender. I know this is now one of my daughter’s favorite books.

You can purchase “Hannah and the Talking Tree” through Amazon. It is currently priced $16.95 with free shipping if you spend $25 or more. You can also purchase this book through the publisher’s site here.

Review and Giveaway: “Jesus My Son” by Mary Bailey – Ends 05/02 *CLOSED*

Congratulations to Anita Y., winner of the Jesus My Son giveaway!
Happy Easter everyone! If you’re a Christ follower, I found a really neat book that you might be interested in. Mary has always been my favorite person from the Bible (other than Jesus of course!). “Jesus My Son: Mary’s Journal of Jesus’ Early Life“, written by Mary Bailey, is a fictional journal written from the perspective of Mary, mother of Jesus. It details Jesus’ early years, such as his Mary announcing her pregnancy to her family and Joseph, Jesus’ birthdays, Jesus’ cousin John and Jesus’ siblings. The book details the early life of Jesus up until the time the Jesus was ready to begin His ministry.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I have never considered what life must have been like for Mary as the mother of Jesus. Imagine being the mother of Jesus and nursing him, giving him his first haircut, tucking him into bed at night, and all the other things moms get to do. In reading the Bible, I have never stopped to think about how life must have been from Mary’s perspective. How special it must have been to be the mother of Jesus and know that your son is the Son of God!

This book would make a fabulous Mother’s Day gift for any Christian mom. If you’d like to preview the first chapter, check out Mary’s website here. There are also chapter excerpts available here.

BUY IT:
If you’d like to purchase this book, you can purchase it through Mary’s website here. Soft cover copies are $14.99 and hardback copies are $18.99 each. You can also purchase the e-book for $4.99.
