Tasty Tuesday: Learning My Eating Habits with Nutrisystem! #NSNation

It’s amazing what you learn about your body and food on Nutrisystem. I’ll admit, when I started on the program, I felt a bit hungry on the food. That went away after about a week, and I found that making sure I took in more water tended to help with any of the hunger I was feeling. Now, I really don’t feel hungry at all on the program, and in fact, some nights, I almost feel full enough that I don’t want to eat that night’s dessert! It’s a HUGE change!

What made me really think about this change from Nutrisystem, though, is the fact that my partner and I went out with his parents to eat at a local chain restaurant. Since he’s been watching his food because of my diet, we both found that, not even 1/3 of the way through our meals, we were completely stuffed. Like, “sick almost to the point of wanting to throw up” stuffed. We both agreed we hated the feeling, and we’re a bit peeved that restaurant servings are so large compared to what we “know” we should be eating now. We’ve agreed to try and split a plate next time we go. But considering that, just three months ago, we’d easily go there AFTER just eating dinner AND both eat our own full plates with ease, a huge, huge change, and we both notice it. And I definitely think that it’s thanks to Nutrisystem that we’ve really learned a whole lot more about correct portion sizes.

To be honest, I didn’t weigh myself this week. I don’t want to. Every four weeks, my body likes to remind me that I’m a female. And it also likes to remind me that, no matter how much water or how healthy I eat, it will choose to randomly gain 4 to 5 pounds this week in water retention. I KNOW it’s water retention, but after a whole week of “No, I shouldn’t eat that” and “No, I’d prefer not to have a brownie”, it’s awful to see the scale go up ANY number. Even if I know that number will come back down. Through Nutrisystem, I’ve actually learned that seeing that higher number is a trigger for me to want to eat stuff I’m not supposed to (It’s like I think “I tried so hard, but for NOTHING, so I might as well eat what I want”) So this week, I’m skipping it, and I’ll have an updated number for you next week.

I also feel like this is a very fitting post as to how Nutrisystem has changed my eating habits as I’m now half-way through my 16 week program! I’m over 14 pounds down! Here’s to hoping I can hit 30 by the end of the program!
